Lattice-Gas Crystallization

چکیده
This paper presents a new lattice-gas method for molecular dynamics modeling. A mean field treatment is given and is applied to a linear stability analysis. Exact numerical simulations of the solid-phase crystallization is presented, as is a finite-temperature multiphase liquid-gas system. The lattice-gas method, a discrete dynamical method, is therefore capable of representing a variety of collective phenomena in multiple regimes from the hydrodynamic scale down to a molecular dynamics scale.

Abnormal incorporation of amino acids into the gas hydrate crystal lattice.
Gas hydrates are crystalline ice-like solid materials enclosing gas molecules inside. The possibility of the presence of gas hydrates with amino acids in the universe is of interest when revealing the potential existence of life as they are evidence of a source of water and organic precursors, respectively. However, little is known about how they can naturally coexist, and their crystallization...

The Equation of State for a one-component System The cooperative problem for a lattice gas on a plane, square lattice and on a simple cubic lattice is solved by a system of two coupled, transcendental equations, derived by a combina torial method, which describes a homogeneous or periodical particle density on the lattice as a function of the temperature and the chemical potential of the latti...
متن کاملAgeing, dynamical heterogeneities and crystallization in the Biroli-Mezard model
– We discuss a number of essential dynamical features of the Biroli-Mezard model. We observe a dynamical slowing down which for high densities depends both on the observation time and on the age of the system. We relate this ageing behavior to the real space dynamics of the system, from which it is clear that the system initially gains mobility due to some essential initial restructuring. We di...
متن کاملThree-Dimensional Crystallization of Vortex Strings in Frustrated Quantum Magnets.
We demonstrate that frustrated exchange interactions can produce exotic 3D crystals of vortex strings near the saturation field (H=H(sat)) of body- and face-centered cubic Mott insulators. The combination of cubic symmetry and frustration leads to a magnon spectrum of the fully polarized spin state (H>H(sat)) with degenerate minima at multiple noncoplanar Q vectors. This spectrum becomes gaples...
متن کاملStability of the Liquid Phase in Colloidal Electrolytes
The equilibrium phase diagram of a 1:1 symmetrical mixture composed of oppositely charged colloids is calculated using Monte Carlo simulations. We model the system by the DLVO effective interaction potential. The phase diagram is similar to that of its atomic analog (the ionic fluid), where a liquid-gas first order transition emerges in the low T − ρ regions being stable with respect to crystal...
